Ashtanga Yoga is a system of yoga, said to contain lists of many different groupings of asanas. Ashtanga Yoga is also called “eight-limbed yoga”. According to Patanjali, Ashtanga  is a great method of internal purification for revealing the true universal Self and it consists of the following eight spiritual practices:

Yama
Niyama
Asana
Pranayama
Pratyahara
Dharana
Dhyana
Samadhi

As I have already given the introduction of a very powerful yoga system, let us now go through its rationales.. I mean why should we practice Ashtanga yoga.

Ashtanga Yoga

The controlling of mind is called Yoga. The first two steps toward controlling the mind are yama and niyama. However, it is not possible to practice yama and niyama when the body and sense organs are weak and haunted by obstacles. A person must first take up daily asana practices to make the body stronger and healthier, then he should practice yama and niyama. Earlier days, people were used to practising yoga and meditation in their daily lives to live healthy and strong. However, the practice of yoga was declining day by day in the fast pace world. When the body and sense organs are in the stabilized state, then only our mind can be steady and controlled. With mind control, one is able to pursue and grasp these first two steps.

Pranayama means taking in the ultra-fine power of the vital wind through exhalation, inhalation, and breath retention. Only these do’es, practised in conjunction with the muscle contractions, locks and in accordance with the rules, can be called pranayama.

The remaining four steps of Ashtanga yoga are very powerful internal cleansing practices — pratyahara, dharana, dhyana, and samadhi—bring the mind to the controlled state. When purification is complete and mind control occurs, the Six Poisons surrounding the spiritual heart –

kama-(desire)
krodha-(anger)
moha-(delusion)
lobha-(greed)
matsarya-(sloth)
mada-(envy)

Ashtanga Yoga

All the above will one by one, go away completely, revealing the true  Universal Self. In this way, the correct consistent practice of Ashtanga Yoga with a subtle free mind liberated from the external and internal sense organs eventually leads one to the full realization of Patanjali's eight-limbed yoga.

At last, I would say, it is very needed to practice yoga again to make lives of people better. Daily yoga practice provides energy healthy fitness.,and that too if you want to be full internal and external cleansing of your body, mind and soul..go for Ashtanga Yoga. It also helps in weight maintenance, increases your body flexibility, works on your core strength, and builds stamina and of course do mental Healing.
